It means several things:
-
All problems get defined by people in a particular context.
-
There is no panacea for all social problems.
-
Solution to problems of man in traditional societies has given rise to new problems. Application of science and technology in agriculture, health and industry has created many new problems for man whose solutions are much more complicated than the solution to problems of traditional societies.
-
We may not ever discover the laws of society or the laws of human action but we can help the disadvantaged groups and vulnerable people through advocacy, by articulating their problems and vision, and helping them get justice.
-
Different people define their happiness subjectively and in different ways which are, however, intricately connected with social structure or global flows. Social scientists’ definitions are neither more superior nor more applicable than those of the people.
