Inclusive growth was supposed to bring the lagging groups in the mainstream, fasten the process of development, and promote integration of society. As soon as the Eleventh Five Year Plan was released the concept of inclusive growth became a buzzword of the development literature in India. It was hoped that with inclusive growth approach (focusing on the condition of lagging social groups and regions) Indian society will move towards a higher level of development with all sections of society benefiting from this.
