The manifesto lent greater support to strengthening education, health, and urban facilities. There were also paragraphs on culture and media, judicial reforms, and electoral reforms. The manifesto included:

• Proportional representation with partial list system

• Effective steps to prohibit persons with criminal background from contesting elections

• State funding in the form of material for recognized political parties

• Prohibition of corporate funding to political parties

The leftist parties are participating in the democratic process of election of government. However, they have serious ideological differences with the Congress, emanating largely from the fact that they have the left of the centre policy, though as compared to BJP they prefer Congress party more for the reason of its adhering to secular agenda.
