What does the manifesto show?

Indian National Congress is the party devoted to building a developed and secular India. The manifesto projects the same. It stands for a modern, secular India which also takes care of needs of the weaker sections of society, which have not benefitted from economic development. The manifesto speaks of development, pragmatism, peace and security, and involvement of overseas Indians in the development process. Congress claims to stand for middle path and pragmatism. The manifesto believes in the diffusionist model of development, and ignores the class and urban-rural contradictions. It also believes that it is possible to attain development and social justice with the existing institutional framework in the country. Being a pragmatic party there is no agenda of its own. History shows that agendas of others become its own whenever they helped the party in getting acceptance among the masses, and winning the elections.
