Design has been integral part of human existence since the beginning of mankind. An artist in a primitive society could quite easily be a technologist (craftsman), an artist and a social organizer at the same time. The creativity of craft design (toys) begins with the selection of right type of timber (plate5A) and seasoning along with preparation of drawing. It is followed by coloring the work according to the social norms. The entire family participates in making the toys (plate 5B). Finally the toy (plate 5C) is ready reflecting the societal norms and symbolic colors (Radha-Krishna). |
