Hand-block printing has a special place in our home decoration. Handblock printing is practiced around the world which has helped to decorating useful articles (bed-sheet, bedcover, curtain, tablecloth, tablemat, pillow-cover, etc.) at home. Using organic ecofriendly dyes is common in traditional prints in Indian subcontinent. Various organic substances (fruits/ flowers and leafs) are used for extracting the colors. The common household items like Bedcover (plate 6A) and apparels (plate 6D) are decorated with Handblock prints. It is labour extensive method of printing on fabrics. The blocks are arranged in sequence and prints are made by pressing on fabrics (plate 6B). Each design is engraved by hand on hard woodblock (plate 6C). The integrate detail engraving is needed to ensure the fine lines printed on the fabric. The tradition of Handblock Print has survived for thousands of years in Indian subcontinent. Because of the tropical condition the rich vegetation has produced wide range of colors which are being applied in handicrafts. The natural ecofriendly color pigments are prepared for various the block printing.
