The Platonic Solids are the set of five solid forms having the properties that each is convex (ball-like) and composed of identical regular polygons, with each vertex alike. Each of the platonic solids fits neatly within a sphere, with all vertices touching the sphere. Similarly, a sphere can be fit within each solid in such a way that the sphere would touch each face of the platonic solid (plate 4).
