The Indus Valley terra-cotta toys are remarkable in terms their simplicity in design and form along with the expressions. Monkey holding (plate 8A) a stick is and exceptional toy sculpturewhich is created with the help of simple forms. The female figures (plate 8B) are created with the help of basic cylindrical and conical forms. Similarly the compositions of the three figures (plate 8C) show extraordinary simplification in form yet creating the essence of cosy interaction among the three characters. The simple forms with minimum anatomical details (plate 8D) such as- finger, facial details, etc. of a figure with Namaste gesture show their mastery in simple form, proportion and childlike innocence in expression. It certainly reminds us of some the modern sculptors with minimalist style of work.
