Module 11 : Human Body
Lecture 33 : Introduction, Human Body, Taller and Shorter, Bending & Flexing, Various Grips, Spring and Stretching

Human hands/ fingers can perform amazing grips that consciously we do not realize. In Indian subcontinent people are used to eating with hand (fingers). Have we ever tried to notice how our fingers function when we eat rice? While eating rice do we notice how our fingers move to put rice inside our mouth? Thumb pushes rice while other four fingers hold horizontally in concave shape (plate5A). The fingers are scooping the rice and the thumb is pushing happens simultaneously. A child tries hard but it does not happen easily. The fingers are flat moving towards the mouth (plate 5B). The child expresses the joy of eating with hands. Sometimes the grip may indicate certain feeling (plate 5C). Holding hands symbolically and physically may indicate and express certain feelings. Therefore, the complex exercise of small-motor coordination helps a grown up person perform so easily while a child or a ‘slow’ person cannot perform. Complex paradigm helps us to perform that other living being may not be able to perform. Human beings have tried and achieved those exercises. Similarly other livings have developed their skill in other activities which man cannot perform. The above activities are based various parts of our body structure.
