Plate 19 Spring Motif (Greece)

Spring Paradigmis directly related to Bigger and Smaller Paradigm. Mankind discovered the quality of elasticity of different materials and exploited through various ways, such as- bow and arrow, slingshot, catapult, etc. Historically we have applied the spring like motifs and symbols (plate 19) from the ancient period. Coiled –spring is the most common spring that is used in many consumer products. Spring is synonymous to elasticity. Elastic object stores mechanical energy. Elasticity is an important quality of the material that is the physical property of a material. It returns to its original shape after the stress (e.g. external forces) under which it deforms is removed. The relative amount of deformation is called the strain. The elasticity of each material varies.
