Hydration and dehydration are the natural process in nature. The process play very important role in the germination of the biotic. Germination in nature happens through is its cyclic order and hydration is one of the important steps that triggers for seed germination along with the temperature and moisture factors. Combination of these factors creates the suitable condition for the germination of seeds. The ideal season for the germination has to consider the hydration and dehydration conditions of the seasons. Many seeds such as rice and wheat require hydration and dehydration conditions for storage and germination at the right time of the seasons. Many seeds require the ideal condition to germinate so that it does not sprout while in the sleeping stage (dormant stage). Seeds found in Mohan-jo-daro after thousands of years are being germinated after hydration. The barley seeds found in one of the earthen-jars at Mohan-jo-daro city are germinated after thousands of years of dormant (dehydrated) condition with the help of ideal hydration and temperature.

Fresh fruits, grapes (plate 15A) are being dehydrated to raisin (plate 15B), Red Chilli (plate 15C) is dehydrated and stored throughout the year for cooking and corn (plate 15D) is dehydrated for the later usage and for grinding to produce wheat. The dehydration is used for storing as well as to produce flower is a common practice through the world.
