Dehydration is loss of fluids from the body, often caused by diarrhoea. It may result in loss of important salts and minerals from the body. Sponge can be squeezed to drain out the fluids by swelling and squashing. By squeezing the fluids it literally drains out the fluids from the sponge.

Dehydration is the main aspect in the food-processing industry. I the process of dehydration it reduces the weight and size of the substance which important in any dehydration industry. Dehydration may take place through natural evaporation. The reduced water content and later regaining its original weight is an important application in the food industry. Transportation of dried requires to reduce weight and size. Because, transporting a reduced-weight product lowers transportation costs and minimizing packaging materials.

Dehydrated food products are less susceptible to fungal infection. Dried food therefore remains longer period. In adventure sports dehydrated food are essential because of the weight carrying capacity of the tracker. In the space voyages dehydrated food is used because of the weight constrains. Egyptian Mummies were preserved for thousands of year because of the dehydration technique.
