Module 1 : Introduction to Design Paradigm
Lecture 2 : Define Paradigm, Paradigm relate to Design Education

Design Paradigm would teach to ask the fundamental question of any solution.

Nature is the wealth of design solutions. Many of them are based on paradigm, such as- layers of onion (plate 5A nesting) or the way Baby Kangaroo inside the pouch.Stacking spoons (plate 5C) or Stacked Soup Bowls (plate 5B) uses the paradigm of the construction of onion layers. The same principle may be applied in a design process.Onion Shell Construction (nesting) proves solution to Spoon stacked together (nesting) or Chairs stacked on top of each other follows the nature’s solution.

The construction of beehives inspired to develop
geodesic structural principles and extension of the same inspired to create modular design. Designers have to search for such paradigms that would spark in developing new ways of solutions.

By studying design paradigm does it make you a better designer ?

Design Paradigm constitutes basic forms, techniques, and devices upon which design depends.

Man-made designs are becoming increasingly less meaningful because machines are now regularly solving problems and designing useful things. Machines can use the backup information to assimilate and give a suitable solution. Hence, in order to remain innovative designers and create impact in human society one has to search for innovative solutions, which certainly become stronger by observing nature’s paradigm.
