Hinge (plate 13A&B) is part of bending paradigm that allows two rigid members to join and bend. It allows to bending with the help of joints attached to two rigid units. It is certainly a very useful device that is frequently used in various products.  There are different types of hinges (plate 13B) that are used for different purposes. Hinges are used in automobile doors (13C&D) and in various parts (bonnet) for the purpose of opening and closing so that it remains compact while moving. Common furniture such chair has hinges with collapsible hinge (plate 13E) for storing and stacking. It follows the bending principle by joining two rigid members with hinge and reflects the bending paradigm.
