Direct measurement of distance using tape is difficult when the terrain is rough or the site is congested. Indirect measurement of distance using optical method is not suitable for high accuracy measurement. Thus, to obtain high accuracy measurement in difficult terrain or for long distance, measurements are taken electronically.
