Systematic errors (in taping) are caused due to: non-standard length of tape, slope in terrain, variations in temperature during measurement, variations in tension, sag, incorrect alignment of the tape etc. A summary of the systematic errors in taping is given in Table 9.1 and the details of which are explained next.
