M2-Ex1 The length of the sides of a rectangle are observed as 52.070 m and 57.36m. The measurement was made using a 30 tape, which is either for short or too long by 0.025m. What would be the error in the area of the track?

M2-Ex2 A 30m steel tape was found to be 0.05m too short. This tape was used to measure the area of a square plot having 60m sides. Find out the true error in the area of the plot.

M2-Ex3 An angle is measured by three different instruments with the given standard deviation: theodolite st = 5 "; transit, si = 20 "and a compass,sc = 30 "

(a)  Rank the instruments in order of increasing precision.

(b)  Calculate the relative weights of the measurement such that the weight of the theodolite measurement is wt = 1

(c)  Calculate the 90% uncertainly in each measurement.

M2-Ex4 In order to establish station A as Bench Mark observations were taken at three different routes I, II & III having distances 2.0 km, 1.5 km & 2.3 km respectively. Observations were taken adopting 2 nd order of 1 st class 3rd order and 2nd order of 2nd class. The differences is elevation have been found to be 24.145m, 24.355m and 24.220m respectively. Find the true difference in elevation.
